BJ’s Timber Flooring was founded in 1964 by Barry John Evans, a man who believed nothing makes a home feel more like home than the warmth of natural timber underfoot. Today, his son Tony continues that belief from the same Perth base: an uncompromising commitment to real timber, mill-direct sourcing and relationships built over decades with WA’s best builders, installers and designers.
We source directly from Australia’s top hardwood mills and direct from suppliers. Every board we sell, we’d put in our own homes. Every installer we recommend through Trade-Match, we’ve worked with for years. And every customer – homeowner, designer or tradie – gets the same honest, unhurried service that built this business.

What's the difference between solid and engineered hardwood?
As the name suggests, solid hardwood is one solid piece of timber the whole way through. This is laid raw, sanded and coated on site. Engineered hardwood is a real timber layer over a plywood core. The timber layer is deep enough to re-sand and re-coat should you choose to in the future. The core stops seasonal cupping and gapping. Both are 100% real timber – neither is a laminate, a hybrid or a print.
Do you install the floors, or just supply?
We supply, and that’s deliberate. Installing a timber floor well is a specialist trade, so rather than doing it in-house we match you with an installer through our Trade-Match Service, chosen for your suburb, your subfloor and the format you’ve picked. You deal with the installer directly, and we stay involved on the product side for the life of the floor.
How long does a typical floor take to install?
It depends on which floor you choose. A prefinished engineered floor like Allure Oak arrives finished so it’s laid and you’re living on it: no sanding, no dust, no waiting on coats to cure. A solid hardwood floor is laid raw and then sanded and coated on site. Your matched installer will confirm the timeline once they’ve seen the space and the subfloor.
Are your timbers sustainably sourced?
Yes, our Australian Hardwoods, Allure Oak and European Oaks are sourced from reputable and FSC certified suppliers. We have strong alliances with Australian mills and international suppliers and we source our timber directly. This means we know the exact chain of custody for every product.
Do you offer trade pricing?
Yes, we do. Our trade customers have been the foundation of our business since 1964. We don’t install floors, so we’re not competing with the trades we supply. A BJTF trade account gets you trade prices on the full range, same-day pickup from our Osborne Park warehouse or delivery to site.
