Spotted Gum has a bold backsawn grain, flashes of fiddleback and a colour palette that shifts across a floor rather than settling. Distinctive sapwood and gum veins run through it. The name comes from the spot-like marks left as the tree sheds its bark in strips.
It is one of the most requested Australian hardwoods among architects and designers worldwide, and at 950kg/m³ dry density it holds up to whatever a family puts on it. Supplied unfinished in widths from 80mm overlay to 210mm wideboard.
